DRINK DRIVER ARRESTED / VEHICLE SEIZED FOR NO INSURANCE. |
||
|
Dear residents.
Whilst out on patrol in Uppermill yesterday evening at around 18:30, I observed a vehicle travelling at speed along High Street, Uppermill. The vehicle was stopped and during checks and enquiries with the driver, it was established that he was not the registered keeper of the vehicle and had no insurance in place to drive it.
As a result, the driver was reported for the offence of driving without insurance, and the vehicle was subsequently seized.
During the interaction, I detected the smell of intoxicants on the drivers breath. He was required to provide a roadside breath test. The driver failed the roadside breath test, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and was conveyed to Tameside Custody Suite for further investigation.
As your Neighbourhood Policing Team, tackling speeding and road safety concerns continues to be a priority across Saddleworth and Lees. As the local Neighbourhood Sergeant, I want to reassure residents that we will continue to proactively stop vehicles where offences are suspected and, when further criminality is identified, we will always take positive action.
Regards
PS 1650 Holian – Saddleworth & Lees NBO Sergeant.
